The kitchen is often called “the heart of the home,” and for good reason. Food is preserved, prepared, cooked, and shared all within its walls. While our modern, fast-paced society may make you think we’re spending less time in the confines of this well-seasoned room, think again.

In an on-going study, Researchers at the University of Michigan found that Generation X adults (if you were born between 1961-1981, that’s you) are actually spending more time cooking in the kitchen—especially the guys. The TIME article that focused on this study also reported that Gen Xers talk about food and cooking more than their predecessors. 1. Induction Cooktops. Waiting for a pot of water to boil will soon be a thing of the past.
